First Annual Sew n’ Knit Along

This spring, we’re not just making projects… We're making the outfit.

From April 1st through June 1st, we’re kicking off our very first Sew n’ Knit Along, and honestly? I’m already emotional about it. Because this isn’t just about finishing a knit or finally cutting into that fabric you’ve been hoarding (no judgment, same). This is about creating a full, head-to-toe, me-made look that feels entirely, unmistakably you.

Here’s the vibe:

One knit piece - like the Earthen Cardigan by Savory Knitting in Juicy DK 'Napi'

✨One sewn piece - like the Margot Pinafore by Tammy Handmade

✨Styled together into a complete outfit (as seen above).

That’s it, that’s the magic. This is your chance to lean all the way in. To your style, your color palette, your “I made this and yes I will bring it up in every conversation” energy. Because truly, there is nothing quite like wearing a me-made outfit you built piece by piece from the ground up.

Let’s Talk Logistics (and get down to details)

When you’ve completed your look, you’ll submit it via a Google Form (we’ll also pin it in the Discord thread so you can’t miss it). From there, you’ll be entered for a chance to win one of three top prizes.

Also!! Make sure you’re following us and Kaci Apple (aka @youngfolk.knits) over on Instagram. We’ve got a special Sew n’ Knit Live coming your way where we’ll be chatting all things fabric, yarn, and bringing your vision to life. Date TBD, but you know it’s going to be a good one.

New to Sewing? I Got You.

If sewing feels like the wild west right now, take a deep breath. You’re not behind you’re just at the beginning.

I put together a helpful Sewing Guide on the blog, and we’ve got some tried-and-true essentials in the shop to make things feel a whole lot smoother:

Swedish Tracing Paper
If you’ve ever been personally victimized by cutting the wrong size directly into your pattern… hi, same. Swedish Tracing Paper is a dream. It’s durable, easy to work with, and lets you create reusable pattern pieces so you can tweak and refine as you go.

Pro tip: we also love using a PDF plotting service to print patterns affordably and skip the tape-and-assemble chaos.

Gutermann Thread
Reliable, strong, and comes in a million colors (okay not a million, but it feels like it). It’s 100% mercerized cotton, which means it’s sturdy without being bulky and exactly what you want when you’re putting love and effort into a garment.

The Heart of It All

At the end of the day, this Sew n’ Knit Along isn’t about perfection. It’s about the process, the experimenting, the community and the moments where something doesn’t go quite right and you figure it out anyway. It’s about that quiet confidence of slipping it all on and thinking, “Yeah… I made this.” And I cannot wait to see what you create.
