Welcome to Siren Summer

Welcome friends, to Siren Summer....

An idea that came about as so many things do around here, with a conversation between teammates. When we get together, the FDF team is never short on topics to chat about and could dream up ideas all day. The marketing team were deep in one of our weekly photo planning meetings when the ideas began to surface (pun absolutely intended). As often happens around here, what started as a conversation about photos quickly drifted somewhere entirely unexpected.

One thought led to another and before long we had abandoned our photo shot to do lists in favor of a very passionate discussion about mermaid lore, ocean myths, shipwrecks, and siren conspiracies. We started passing inspiration back and forth and quickly realized we were all drawn to the same thing and we were swapping stories, debating coastal legends, and convincing ourselves that at least a few mermaid sightings had to be real.

Summer inspiration that felt moodier and more mysterious. Like moonlit waters, weathered ships, sea glass treasures, and sirens basking beneath the stars, wrapped in all the ancient folklore that surrounds the sea. The vision became clear pretty quickly: this summer, we swim, we sing our siren song, and maybe, just maybe, we lure a few unsuspecting fisherfolk off course into our sparkling hand knit or crochet nets.

The more we explored the idea, the more it resonated, there is something captivating about ocean stories. Shipwrecks hidden beneath the waves, sparkling treasures waiting to be discovered and Sirens who are captivating, powerful, and just a little bit dangerous. It felt like the perfect direction for a summer collection.

Once Candice and the team started developing the palette, everything really began to come together.

You'll find soft sea foam greens, stormy blues, weathered grays, shell-inspired pinks, and rich oceanic tones throughout the collection. The colors feel both calming and dramatic, which is honestly one of my favorite things about them. They remind me of standing on a rocky shoreline watching the ocean before a storm rolls in.

However, one of the most exciting parts of Siren Summer has been the return of Moon Sisters.

If you've been around FDF for a while, you probably remember this beloved base. Moon Sisters has always held a special place in my heart and is my personal favorite base at FDF. When we started talking to Candice about the inspiration we dreamed up for Summer, she suggested bringing this base back and it truly felt like the perfect opportunity.

The subtle bronze stellina running through the yarn catches the light beautifully and feels right at home alongside the Siren Summer theme. It's the kind of sparkle that feels intentional rather than flashy, more moonlight on water than glitter bomb, and I think that's exactly why so many people have loved it over the years.

And of course, we couldn't do Siren Summer without something truly ethereal and impossibly fluffy. . .

Meet Moonbeam, our newest dreamy base featuring 64% Baby Suri Alpaca, 26% Grade A Mulberry Silk, and 10% Mermaid Stellina Sparkle. Soft, luminous, and kissed with just the right amount of shimmer, Moonbeam feels like sea foam drifting across moonlit water. The Baby Suri and silk create an airy halo that practically glows, while the Mermaid Stellina catches the light like hidden treasures beneath the waves.

To also celebrate the collection, we've put together three special kits inspired by the colors and textures of the sea. Please note that these special limited edition kits are a Pre-order and will be shipped mid July. Pre-order ends June 26, 2026.

Whether you're a knitter, crocheter, or somewhere delightfully in between, there's a little sparkly siren magic waiting for you. We have knit and crocheted samples for each design in some of our Siren Summer colorways, and we've also created quick project guides for every kit with sizing information, yarn requirements, and everything you'll need to help choose your perfect summer cast on.

🐚 The Cande Crochet Pullover Kit

🐚 The Cande Crochet Pullover brings effortless coastal charm with beautiful texture and an easy-to-wear silhouette that feels equally at home on a windswept shoreline or curled up with a good book after sunset. Our sample was crocheted in the colorway Dangerous Temptations.

🌊 The Viva Cami Kits

🌊 The Viva Cami is a warm weather favorite featuring playful slipped-stitch stripes and a simple, flattering shape. Light, breezy, and endlessly wearable, it's the kind of piece you'll reach for all summer long. Our sample was knit up using Gary Cooper as the main color and Everyday People as the contrast color.

The Summer Solstice Shawl Kits

✨ The Summer Solstice Shawl captures everything we love about Siren Summer. Airy lace, shifting textures, and graceful stripes come together in a project that feels like moonlight dancing across the water. Our sample was knit up using Dangerous Temptations as Color 1 and The Den as color 2.

And while it isn't available as a kit, we couldn't resist creating a little extra inspiration along the way. And this whimsical Seaweed Scrunchie  knitting pattern designed by Megan Faith Makes (pictured below) is proof that even the smallest projects can carry a bit of ocean magic. Sometimes the treasures you find washed ashore are the ones you weren't expecting. The sample is knit up and shown in colorway Val.

What we've loved most about watching this collection come together is seeing how far the inspiration has reached beyond the yarn itself. Our team has been sharing artwork, books, folklore, shells, tarot decks, jewelry, and all sorts of little treasures that fit within the world of Siren Summer. It has become less of a collection and more of a creative playground. View the whole Siren Summer collection here.

And here at The Farmer's Daughter Fibers a colorway is never just yarn or a colorway. There's always a story behind it, and it's so much fun getting to build those stories together.

We can't wait to share Siren Summer with you and see what you create with it. Whether you're casting on with the returning Moon Sisters or our new Moon Beam yarn, picking up a new colorway, or simply joining us for the inspiration, we're so glad you're here. Here's to a summer of beautiful knitting, moonlit swims, ocean treasures, and embracing your inner siren. Just remember: if you hear singing coming from somewhere out at sea, it's probably best not to follow it.

Or do. We won't judge. 🐚
