FAQ

Are all of the attendees staying together?

This year, we’re giving attendees the flexibility to choose lodging that best fits their budget and travel style. While we won’t all be staying in the same place, we’ll provide plenty of recommendations in our Great Falls Guide, which you'll receive after registering.

If I am flying into Great Falls should I rent a car?

Yes, we strongly recommend renting a car. You’ll need it to get from downtown Great Falls to where classes are hosted, as well as to the Ulm Pishkun for our cultural event. The venues are not within walking distance, and rideshare options in the area are limited.

What is the vibe of this getaway? How full will my schedule be?

The vibe is relaxed and creative, with a blend of scheduled classes and free time. You’ll have opportunities to connect, explore, and recharge. The schedule is full enough to keep you inspired, but leaves room to rest and enjoy Montana’s natural beauty.

Where should I eat and what else is there to do in Great Falls?

We’ll include a list of our favorite spots to eat and fun things to do in the Great Falls Guide, which you’ll receive after registering. It’s packed with local recommendations so you can make the most of your time in Central Montana—whether you’re looking for a great cup of coffee, a scenic hike, or a unique museum.

I only want to take one of the classes, can you accomodate that?

This year’s retreat is designed as a full experience and includes all three classes, our cultural activity, and a social night. To keep things running smoothly and within budget, we’re not able to accommodate à la carte class selections. We think you’ll love the full lineup - it’s thoughtfully curated to inspire and connect!

Can my family join me?

Usually, we ask that families hang back so attendees can fully unplug and recharge. But for this retreat, your family is welcome to come along and enjoy Great Falls while you’re at classes and events! Please note that they won’t be able to attend classes or the cultural activity, but we will offer separate tickets for the social evening if they’d like to join the fun. 15 years old and above.

What is the skill level for the Steeking Class?

The Steeking class is designed for intermediate to advanced knitters. You should feel confident with mosiac colorwork and comfortable cutting your knitting.

How many spaces will be available?

There will be 45 spots open for this retreat, each class will have 15 students. We recommend signing up early to reserve your place.

What is the Cultural Event at the Ulm Pishkun?

We’ll visit First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park - one of the oldest and largest buffalo jumps in North America. You’ll experience a guided program centered on Indigenous culture and history. It’s a powerful and grounding part of the retreat.

Is all of this hosted at the Farmer's Daughter Fibers shop?

Nope! We’re keeping the shop open as a cozy space for you to hang out, relax, and connect with other attendees. Classes will be held at various venues around town, and you’ll receive all the location details along with your full schedule in mid-June.

What is the cancellation policy?

You can receive an 50% refund if you cancel up to 45 days before the retreat. No refunds will be issued within 45 days of the event.

Are there volunteer opportunities?

Possibly! Reach out to us directly if you’re interested in volunteering—we’d love to hear from you and see if there's a good fit.

Can I come if I Don't Know Anyone?

Absolutely. In fact, a lot of folks come solo! This is a great space to connect with other makers, share your passion, and build new friendships. We’ll have social time and relaxed hangouts built into the retreat to make it easy to find your people. We pride ourselves on bringing people together at our Retreats.

Will there be a waiting list if the Retreat sells out?

Yes—if the retreat sells out, you’ll have the option to join our waitlist. We’ll contact folks in the order they signed up if any spots open up.

Can I ship my FDF purchases home?

Yes! We’re happy to help you ship your yarn, merch, or any goodies you pick up while you're here. And as a special gift we are shipping yarn home to retreat members for free. Just ask at the shop, and we’ll take care of the rest.
