Amongst the red brick of old industrial buildings, small businesses, and restaurants of downtown Great Falls there are splashes of color decorating what were once just blank walls. Murals engulfing these once empty spaces bring art closer to us than ever before.
Incorporating it into our walks, drives, and downtown outings we have been so fortunate to display art so prominantly in our town. Just down the street from our shop this painting of a woman in a traditional Elk Ivory Dress juxtaposed against the vibrant fuchsia immediately captured our hearts.
Born in Browning Montana and raised on the Blackfeet Reservation, Louis Still Smoking is the artist behind this colossal and maginificent mural that we are lucky enough to have adorn out downtown.
Louis started his journey as a stone sculpter until hedecided to further persue other mediums. He is constantly evolving his work and expanding his talents: “I try to convey a message that is relevant to all native peoples, whether that be social or political my work expresses my own personal beliefs and struggles as a modern Native American.”
