After spending all of 2020 and 2021 dreaming of travel, we decided to team up with Ritual dyes and bring our dreams of knitting on the beach a reality.

All of the information is below but feel free to reach out to Candice at info@thefarmersdaughterfibers.com or Rachel at heyrachel@ritualdyes.com with further questions.

What You Can Expect

You can expect a memorable experience rich in culture, food and relaxation. We’d like to create a full experience while abroad in Tulum and we consider this an active retreat. This means that we will be creating a balance that includes many opportunities to move your body as well as to relax and knit. We are so excited to welcome Andrea Mowry as our knitting instructor for this retreat!
  • Activities that are designed to connect to the location including visiting the cenotes, a walking tour through the local town, and bike rides.
  • Experiences to encourage deep relaxation like daily yoga, sound baths, and other self-care activities.
  • A delicious menu and available food to accommodate most any dietary needs
  • We will have around 25 guests, so you can expect to make new friends but also keep a more intimate setting.
  • This is a luxury hotel that specializes in retreats. Even as such, you can expect that there may be instances which are common for Mexico and may not be as standard in the US. This can include needing to drink bottled water, not flushing toilet paper, and having limited Air Conditioning and Internet access.

  • Knitting Workshops with Andrea Mowry

Ease-y There!

In the class we will explore what Andrea calls her magic numbers! She will help you take your own proper measurements (optional) and explain how to fully understand ease in sweater patterns. By the end of class we hope you will have a new confidence in picking sweater sizes and styles that you will love to knit and wear! (2 hrs)

Andrea's Approach to Color in Knitting!  - In this exploratory class Andrea will discuss her favorite ways to add color to her knitting, such as fading, brioche, stranded colorwork, and mosaic! She will share when she chooses which and why, and how she goes about choosing colors for the different applications of each. (3 hrs)

I'll Knit If I Want To - Bring your knitting and hang out as we do a live version of "I'll Knit If I Want To" where Andrea will answer your questions, knit night style! (3 hrs)

(supply list will be sent when we get closer to the retreat)

How to Sign Up

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED

The registration form is not a guarantee of registration. Registration will be first come, first serve based upon how applicants fit into the rooming needs. If your application has been processed as a retreat guest we will let you know on October 7th. If you do not hear from us you will automatically be put on a waitlist. The first 3 waitlisted guest will also be contacted. Opposite of what your doctor says, no news is bad news. We will offer more retreats in the future and hope you can make one!

If you have edits to your registration please reach out to info@thefarmersdaughterfibers.com, but please do refrain from inquiring about where you are at on the registration or waitlist. We expect hundreds of people to apply and this is a fun added event we are managing on top of running our businesses. Again, thank you for applying and we hope to see you in Tulum or at a future retreat.

The first registration fee is due November 1st and the second registration fee is due January 15th. We will be sending you an invoice for these 5 day prior.

If you are going with a friend or family member you can both fill out a form (with everyones information on each application) or just do 1 application, it is up to you!

Please fill out all the information as needed (including your roommates info), any additional guest information not filled or missing info could result in an application we are not able to process.

You can cancel from the time the first invoice is paid up until January 15th with a 95% refund. After January 15th there is a 70% refund and after March 1st there are no refunds.

FAQ

What airport do I fly into? And what requirments do I need? You will need to book your tickets to the Cancun Airport. We will arrange pickup for you, please note you may need to wait up to 45 minutes for other retreat members. You need to have a current passport and have a full covid-19 vaccination according to the Mexico Travel Advisory.

Can I bring my spouse or children? While we see this retreat as a way to getaway, relax and do some much needed selfcare by yourself or knitting friends, if you want to bring your spouse you definitely can. However, they will also be paying for the knitting classes and activities as all spots are budgeted for this. No kiddos please :)

What if I would like to share a room, but don’t have a knitting friend to bring along? There will be an option on the google form to mark if you are OK with sharing a room with someone you don’t know yet!

I have food allergies or dietary restrictions. Can the resort accommodate? Absolutely! This is one of the reasons we choose the Amansala retreat center. Their food is fresh and the chefs are more than willing to accommodate any food allergies or restrictions.

I don’t think I want to do the Tulum tour/yoga/massage, can you discount my total for me? Prices are based upon 25 guests joining us and that includes accommodations, food, knitting workshops, and some activities . We cannot accommodate changes to prices based on what you may or may not want to join in on. The only optional paying activities are the Cenote Tour and Sound bath. This being said, you definitely don’t have to join any activity you don’t want to but it is included in the price and that won’t change.

Is the venue private? The venue is private, however there will be other groups and guests on site. We look forward to meeting all sorts of new friends!

What should I bring and can I see the schedule of events? We will be sending out an extensive packing list and supply list for classes after the first of the year. Along with this we will be sharing a tentative schedule as well! We can’t wait to share more with you about Amansala!

I didn’t get into the retreat. Is there a waiting list? A waiting list will automatically be created based on our first come, first serve policy with the google forms.

What is the cancelation policy? You can cancel from the time the first invoice is paid up until January 15th with a 95% refund. After January 15th there is a 70% refund and after March 1st there are no refunds.

Will you offer other retreats stateside? We will! Candice is working on finding the perfect retreat location in Montana. We hope to offer more retreats in the future both closer to home and abroad.
