The A Team

Back in February we introduced our Dye team to you. Now we are introducing the ladies who make the yarn turn from straw to gold. Ok not really but that is what it feels like to me. From skeining to shipping to running the shop these ladies are vital to production and deserve a big round of applause!

Allison Intorre :: Production

Allison first started as a regular here at FDF and started filling in when we needed her. When a full-time spot opened up she jump on board. Now Allison does everything from skeining, to organizing shipments, to working on the website. Her attention to detail was so needed around here! (Allison is wearing her Mountain Mist by Tin Can Knits out of Pishkun).

How long have you been with FDF? September 2020.

What is your favorite part of your job? The people I work with! I really like how we all collaborate on projects and events.

What is the least favorite part of your job? Doing inventory. It's so tedious!

What hobbies do you have? I love to knit, read, and take my dog for walks.

Favorite FDF colorway? I think it changes all the time, but I really love Evergreen!

Denise Shortridge :: Customer Service

Denise is our resident shop gal, sample maker extraordinaire, and customer service expert! Denise and I spend a lot of time geeking out over new patterns, wips, and incoming inventory. Stop into our Brick and Mortar Wednesday through Saturday and you'll get to meet Denise! (Denise is wearing the Rock It Tee by Tanis Fiber Arts in Foxy Lady Lulu and Mighty Mo Spillin Tea)

What is your favorite part of your job? I get warm cozy feels when I am surrounded by color and texture. To be able to share my love of yarn with our customers is the best!

What is your least favorite part of your job? Ugh! Keeping the beautiful old hardwood floors clean!

What hobbies do you have? I started at a very young age (11) sewing my own clothes. My love of fashion and color remained constant until my children were old enough to think handmade was not cool. Then I switched to quilting... which I grew into a commercial quilting business. I was also working at a local quilt shop and one of my customers had made a beautiful hand knit felted bag. I immediately signed up to knit a washcloth in a learn to knit class at our LYS, just so I could have a bag "just like hers' ". Now, many years later, I am back to sewing clothes with the beautiful fabrics carried at The Farmers Daughter Fibers, knitting with the luscious yarns that I am surrounded by each day. When I am not at work, I have a small little yellow cottage where I garden and collect vintage finds. And last but not least an eight month old aussie doodle that keeps me on my toes. Life is Good!

What is your favorite FDF colorway? Don't make me pick! It changes daily and I am learning to step out of my comfort colors and create with the colors that are all Farmers Daughter Fibers.

Joplin Jones :: Production Manager

Joplin is the newest member of the FDF fam! After our beloved Kristin moved back to Missoula, Joplin jumped right in to the craziness of FDF shipping. Joplin fills all of our orders, keeps up on inventory, organizes our subscriptions, and helps out on email. This job is the most challenging position at FDF and we were so lucky to find someone with an amazing memory and excellent organization skills!

What is your favorite part of your job?  I love everybody that I have got to meet so far. I love the culture and morals behind FDF. It is the perfect job, and I lucked out!

What is the least favorite part of your job?  I'm not one to complain, but organizing thousands of skeins of yarn is not the easiest task!

What hobbies do you have?  I'm a mother to a toddler, so my hobbies include sidewalk chalk, Cocomelon, and if I'm lucky I have a few minutes a day to tend to my plants!

What is your favorite FDF colorway?  I don't think I could choose just one, but Spillin' Tea just speaks to me for some reason!

  • What is the sweater pattern that Denise was wearing in the email that was sent concerning this blog post? It was a yellow, cropped cardigan?
