A Tribe Called Red is a dynamic Canadian electronic music group known for blending Indigenous sounds with modern genres like hip-hop and dubstep.
Formed in 2008, the trio—comprising Bear Witness, 2oolman, and DJ NDN—aims to elevate Indigenous culture through their music, using traditional powwow vocals and samples alongside contemporary beats.
Their energetic performances and powerful visual art promote cultural awareness and social justice, making them influential figures in both the music scene and Indigenous activism.
With tracks like "Electric Pow Wow Drum," they create a unique sound that resonates with diverse audiences while celebrating their heritage.
The Yarn
This month we have chosen to highlight the beautiful background colors of their albums into our skeins, dying Brooklyn Tweed's Loft in this lively fuscia and neutral cream. We named them Electric Pow Wow. The stark contrast of these is so gorgeous, but be careful to not wash them together to avoid any bleeding.
Loft is a Non-Superwash Targhee-Columbia Wool from Wyoming. With 275 yds per 50g this 2ply yarn is incredibly versatile. It is incredibly warm and we would love to see someone create a pair of mittens like the Worlds Simplest Mitttens by Tin Can Knits or their Toque Hat
With every month in the Indigenous Collective you can order more of the colorway in the listing below. Please know the preorder will end October 1st and ship mid October.

I’ve already cast on the Vigga scarf by NotPerfectKnit (it’s on Ravelry) with the red. It’s exactly the kind of wooly wool I love for this kind of project! I listened to some music by the artist on youtube and really enjoyed it.
