For this month's Indigenous Collective pick, we wanted to base it off of this beautiful print that Candice purchases at Indigenous Made Fair in Missoula. You can find Powwowbaby on etsy for her beautiful handcrafted jewlery, clothing, accessories and art.
Faith is of mixed Native American, African American and Caucasian heritage and grew up on the Flathead Indian Reservation in western Montana. She has been sewing, beading, and crafting since I was a kid.
The Yarn
This month we have chosen to highlight the yellow from the Cedar Waxwing and the purple from the Serviceberries.
We decided to use our Craggy Tweed DK, it has a natural oatmeal hugh that we thought would warm the yellows and purples. The NEPs in the yarn adds a beautiful natural speckle to the yarn. We think this is an incredibly versatile yarn that makes great hats, mittens and cowls.
With every month in the Indigenous Collective you can order more of the colorway in the listing below. Please know the preorder will end December 13.
I am so so sad to learn that we’ve reached the end of this series. It has brought me so much joy and I love how many artists I’ve learned about. The yarn every month has been gorgeous and so thoughtful. It’s honestly a bit heartbreaking that it’s ending. This series is such a unique offering in the fiber arts community. Thank you for all of your work, and if it starts again, consider me first in line.

The Indigenous Collective Series has been a gift each month! I have tried colors and yarns I might not have chosen on my own. I have been introduced to artists I would not have known of as well as artists whose works I already admired. I have never been disappointed. I will miss this monthly treasure. Thank you for all the work that went into presenting an artist and their accompanying yarn each month.

I am in love with December’s yarn. Love the fact it is ending on a beautiful note by choosing Robin Wall Kimmerer recent book and the colors of this yarn are spectacular. I ordered an extra skein so to knit something very special to wrap my head and warm my hands. Thank you for a wonderful Indigenous Collection.
